Dementia Care in Gaylord Mi

Quality senior living, dignified and respected.

Quality Assisted Living for Individuals with Dementia

Here at August Haus, we cater our services to those with a diagnosis of dementia.  Although we are not a memory care, we are equipped to care for those with mild forms of Dementia, and may be able to provide a less “Institutionalized” atmosphere.  Some individuals with dementia may eventually need more advanced treatment in the form of a memory care, and we’ll be happy to assist with that transition, should the need ever arise.

Memory Care Units are a special type of facility that caters to those strictly with a dementia diagnosis. The staff at these facilities have special training which allows them to cater to the specific needs of residents living with Dementia.  These individuals are able to live the remainder of their life with expert supervision and regiments that help to mitigate the effects of Dementia.

More About Dementia

Dementia is an umbrella term.  An individual may have dementia, but not necessarily have Alzheimer’s.  Alzheimer’s tends to be a catch all term for those older adults living with memory loss, but this disease requires a medical diagnosis, which is not always 100% accurate.

There are over 80 different types of Dementia, with Alzheimer’s being only one.  A few examples of Dementia include: Lewy Body, Frontotemporal, and Parkinson’s.  It is typically a challenge for doctors to determine exactly what type of dementia an individual has without doing a brain autopsy after the individual passes away.
